This
post is definitely going to be less words, more pictures. :)
This past D-term I decided to take a class,
which ended up being an adventure. It
was an ecology class that traveled to various deserts across Arizona while
doing research studies and making observations.
We got to do a ton of hiking, and basically lived completely outdoors
for the entire two weeks except for two nights in hotels and when we had to go
into town to restock on food and supplies.
It was an experience that I will never forget and enjoyed so much. One of the coolest parts of the trip though,
was that no one really used much technology.
We all had our phones, but to be honest, barely used them at all. There were very few instances when most of
the group had reception anyway, but I had it the whole time. It was very relaxing to not be on my phone
all the time like I usually am. I also
never used a computer at all for those two weeks, and just got to be outside
and distant from technology as a whole.
It was a really cool feeling that I think people should try to
experience more often. I think that
people do rely on technology too much, but it is a part of our society, and
does make things easier a lot of the time.
However, I think it is healthy to get away from that type of culture
every once and awhile, in order to experience life without such a reliance on
technology.
Oh,
and also, here are some pictures from my trip.
We got to experience so many beautiful places throughout all of Arizona,
and used a lot of paper maps throughout our hiking. Fun times.
